Based on a firm belief that one can never have too many dresses in their closet.
It is in the 90s in DC this week and I am not complaining! Summer is hands down my favorite season and with all the cold/wet weather that we have been experiencing lately, I am welcoming the warmer temps with open arms. Growing up on Hilton Head Island and then heading to school in Nashville – I have grown to love the heat and humidity. However, I also know that not everyone shares this mindset and many prefer to avoid these ultra sticky, sweaty situations. Therefore, the one item that I believe we can all agree on and need in our wardrobes is the effortlessly chic, warm weather dress. I embrace the notion that a perfectly fitting, lightweight, easy to throw on garment is the best coping mechanism for the warmer seasons. Once you find the one, it will have you feeling like a million bucks. This outlook relates back to my favorite childhood dress – a yellow frock that my grandparents brought back for me from Italy. I honestly never wanted to take it off my body – my mom would be forced to bribe me in some way in order to have it long enough to wash. Anecdotes aside, I believe that everyone should have a dress/dresses in their current rotation that make them feel so fabulous that they never want to take them off.
Below I have linked to some of my ultimate wish list dress picks for the warmer months ahead. I aimed to include a variety from lower to higher price points as well as different lengths and styles. Of course I included a few of my favorite designers who always nail that casual feminine look – you might remember them from my inspiration post, brands like Sea New York and Ulla Johnson. However, I have also incorporated many other loves such as Rebecca Taylor, Joie, Ganni, Dodo Bar Or, and loads more that I am currently coveting.
As far as styling goes, you really cannot beat the ease and versatility of a summer dress. The perfect one and done option that will leave you feeling pulled together, but not involve too much time or thought when it is really too hot to be bothered. Slip on a cute pair of slides and you are out the door! On a side note – many of these would be wonderful options for any upcoming weddings you may have on your calendar. Simply add a slightly dressier sandal and statement earrings and you are all set to dance the night away. I hope you enjoy my picks below and let me know if there are any other sundresses that you are excited to break out in the coming months.
