A little diy beauty trick I’ve grown to love…
I don’t know about you, but nine days out of ten I roll out of bed with massive under eye baggage – how lovely! I am not certain whether it’s due to lack of sleep, sleep position (on my stomach – I know, not good), or something else entirely but regardless it drives me crazy. As you may know – I have a couple eye creams that I swear by and really assist with hydration as well as any darkness I have going on. But the puffiness seems to be in a league all its own – I have yet to find a cream or serum that can truly combat it. As I mentioned in my September Favorites, I found these lovely and all natural little masks, which do wonders to dismantle any “baggage” when applied in the am. But they can get pricey and therefore I like to save them for use before a special event. In the past year I also purchased this jade roller, (excellent for any type of facial massage), but I particularly love using the small end for light massage on my under eyes in the morning. A little tip – I keep mine in the freezer and it is incredible how refreshing it feels on the skin.
It was not until I watched this Lisa Eldridge video a few months back that I was inspired to attempt creating my own little eye de-puffers with simple ice cubes made out of green tea. Seriously – if you have not seen the video, go check it out. She has some wonderful tips and tricks for when you’re feeling less than on point and need to calm down any residual inflammation. It makes a ton of sense – ice helps muscles contract and can therefore ease swelling around the eye area. The green tea is an added bonus as it is full of natural caffeine and antioxidants and also the color is light enough that it will not stain your skin.
To give this little cost effective tip a whirl simply brew a pot of strong green tea. Once your brew has cooled slightly, pour it into an ice cube tray and freeze. Then, wrap a cube in a light cloth or a couple tissues and gently press/massage the flat side around your eye contour area. Super easy and you will look more wide awake in minutes!
