…It’s never too early to start that anti-aging routine
Eye cream is a product that many might deem unnecessary. Some view it as just a fancy moisturizer – why not simply slather your daily hydrator of choice up to your orbital bone and call it a day? And I understand that philosophy to an extent, eye cream/serums can be expensive and might seem like just another to do on a laundry list of skincare. Yet, naturally I beg to differ with this philosophy. Our eyes are quite often the first place to show signs of aging i.e. fine lines and wrinkles, not to mention puffiness, exhaustion, and dark circles. The skin around the eyes is thinner and therefore more prone to being a dead giveaway for little deeds that we might not want the world to see all over our face – drinking a bit too much the night before, enjoying a few too many salty foods, or just generally not getting enough beauty sleep. Therefore, I say why not invest in an eye cream – something that can specifically help heal and calm this sensitive area and ultimately diminish your need to wear heavy amounts of makeup/concealer. Below I have listed my top picks for both day and night – each are non-toxic, organic, and free of any harsh chemicals. Much like mascara, eyes are sensitive and I find it helps to ensure that the products used here are especially clean and devoid of any and all irritants.
My love for the Tata Harper line has been professed quite a few times – see here and here. This Illuminating Eye Creme is no exception. In the morning I tap a tiny amount with my ring finger all around my orbital bone, post cleansing my face and applying a serum. Then, I let it sink in as I start to apply my face moisturizer. I find that this cream not only revives my tired, puffy morning eyes, but also leaves a slight glow that stays with me the whole day and subtly brightens my entire face even without concealer. The Illuminating Eye Creme is actually infused with diamond dust which I suspect is the culprit for that glow and it smells heavenly. Like all of Tata’s products it has a vaguely floral and fresh scent that is not overpowering at all.
One Love Organics Vitamin E Eye Balm is my top pick to apply before bed. This one comes in a small pot – just 18 grams, but it will last you ages. All you do is scoop out a teeny tiny amount of the balm and gently warm it between your fingers. The warmth of your hands will turn it into more of an oil texture, which you then gently pat around your eyes. The formula soaks right in and by the morning my eye area still looks dewy – quite a feat as I am prone to getting dry skin and waking up to scaly red patches. That is not the case here at all – perfect because fine lines tend to show up more on skin that is dehydrated. This balm seems to smooth over any baby fine lines that I am currently obtaining in my mid twenties. To me it has a very pleasant scent, almost vaguely spicy and herbal if that makes sense? Not sure, I am horrendous at describing fragrance but I promise that it is not overwhelming.
I would definitely recommend giving either of these a try if you are in the market for a new eye cream or just starting out on your anti-aging journey. I think that they are worth the price as good skincare is what allows us to wear less makeup overall. Also, remember that you just need the tiniest amount per application to see significant results.
I would love to know your thoughts below if you have ever used one of these before or if you have any other great eye care recommendations, I am all ears!
