All the bits that I have been loving this past month…
As a follow up to last month’s Loving Lately posts, I thought it would be nice to make these round ups a bit more of a regular occurrence. Some of my all time favorite posts to read/videos to watch are other bloggers’ monthly favorites and so I figured why not follow suit? These posts will most likely contain random pieces that I have been reaching for continuously throughout the past 30 days and enjoying thoroughly. Some of these items will be new to the blog and some will most likely be favorites that I have mentioned time and time again. I just want to keep it as honest as possible – only the cream of the crop 🙂 Overall, I think these posts are just a succinct way to close out each month and I hope you enjoy! Read on below for my fashion, beauty, and lifestyle picks.
Paloma Wool Sweatshirt – I have been wearing this pretty consistently throughout August as it is the perfect layer when you want a little something extra for those chillier evenings. It is also slightly cropped, which I love and goes perfectly over anything from high waisted jeans or shorts to flowy slip dresses. It looks like the navy color that I have is sold out, but the white is still available – perfect for Labor Day!
Loeffler Randall Lulu Mules – It is well documented that I really love a slide/mule and some blush pink. Put those two together and I am in shoe heaven. Such is the case with these mules from the ever chic brand, Loeffler Randall. What I was most surprised by is how comfortable they are! I have the worst feet in the world, super prone to blisters and discomfort, but I was able to wear these all day without breaking them in and honestly did not feel as much as a tweak. Great success! Not to mention, they go with everything from more casual to dressy outfits. (The blush that I have is sold out, but this camel color is beautiful as well for Fall).
Tuckernuck Lovebird earrings – I picked these up at the beginning of the summer, super unsure whether I would enjoy them as they seemed so big – I worried that they might be heavy or overpowering. I am happy to report back that they are the best statement earring. The silhouette is extremely lightweight, high quality, and they dress up any outfit. Seriously – just pull your hair back, pop these on, and you are good to go. Every time I’ve worn these beauties, I get compliments.
Mih Bodycon Skinny Jean – I have never had luck with white jeans – typically they are either see through or go baggy after one wear – not a great look. In the beginning of the summer, I tried this pair on and immediately sensed that something was different about them. I am happy to report that was absolutely the case – I have been wearing these jeans to death this summer as they go with everything; have stretch, but retain their shape; and best of all are super high waisted for an ultra flattering look. If you are in need of a new pair – I cannot recommend them enough and as we all know, there is no need to stop wearing white post Labor Day 🙂
RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek Vogue Rose – My love for rms continues with my latest addition, the limited edition Vogue Rose shade in the lip2cheek formula. After months of pondering whether or not to pick up yet another little pot from the brand, I went for it – afraid that if I refrained it would be gone forever. It is selling out rather fast, but you can still pick it up here. If you do decide to purchase it, I can say that you will not regret it! The rose color is the perfect dusty pink and like the other shades, just a little goes a long way to brighten up your whole complexion. I think that it will flatter almost all skin tones as it is a subtle color, the perfect hint of brightness, that is not too in your face or garish. It may even be replacing my former favorite – demure.
One Love Organics Vitamin B Enzyme Cleansing Oil – I have mentioned this product before, but it was not until the past month that I recognized that this one is truly holy grail status for me. It is just the perfect first cleanse, rids my face of all makeup at night, but never strips it – rather it feels super nourishing. The oil smells lightly of pineapple and I think it is safe to say that I am addicted. I am getting nervous because I am almost all out – repurchasing ASAP! P.S. – this weekend is a great time to stock up on Dermstore for 20% off site wide!
W3LL People Bio Brightener Stick – This product has also reached cult status for me and another one that I am sad to say I have almost entirely run out of! It provides a natural looking, subtle highlight that I gently pat in – high on my cheekbones, under the eyebrow, cupid’s bow, and on the inner corner of my eyes. It takes about 30 seconds and requires minimal touching to completely mesh with the skin. I like to think of it as sleep in a stick – a couple of swipes and I instantly look more bright eyed and awake, miracles! It is the perfect natural, everyday highlight.
Friends from College – Andrew and I went through this Netflix series so quickly that I would be remiss not to mention it. A dark comedy, centered around a friend group who graduated from Harvard 10 years ago and are now reunited and living in New York. The episodes are quick, the styling is exquisite, and now I cannot wait for season two to binge watch.
The First Mess Cookbook – I’m still going strong with this cookbook from the blogger, Laura, behind The First Mess blog. I know that I have mentioned her recipes quite a few times on here, but the book really is that good. Every meal delivers and it is fair to say that I am addicted to her romanesco glow salad, roasted cauliflower with green tahini, and salt and vinegar potatoes. Pick it up and I promise that you will not lack for dinner inspiration summer, spring, winter, or fall.
Jenny Luu Skincare – If you live in the DC area and are looking for a good facialist, I cannot recommend the Jenny Luu spa in Chevy Chase enough. I went for the first time this month, when my skin was feeling particularly “meh” and walked out feeling like a new person. My skin glowed for days and is still on a pretty even keel, which I think I can completely chock up to this facial experience. You don’t have to pick a specific package or option when booking – (which I typically find rather daunting and confusing). When you go in for the first time, your aesthetician will assess your skin and take it from there, customizing to your individual needs. These types of treatments can be a little pricey, but I think that every few months they are absolutely worth it for overall skin health and less issues down the road.
That’s it for this month’s favorites, I hope you enjoyed this little recap. And please let me know in the comments anything that you’ve discovered and/or been loving in August!
